Could you please review and comment on the following patch series below?

These are required by future tools to make fixing image chains safer and easier.

This has been previously submitted as part of a larger set of patches, which were not accepted mostly due to a ResourceManager Exception workaround (force flag). The series above removes that workaround and also improves the tests.

I'm only submitting the API changes at this time. If you want to have an idea on what this will be used for, please see now abandoned https://gerrit.ovirt.org/#/c/94105/ (it will get updated and resubmitted once and if these API changes are accepted)
