Suggestion, can't a certain commit message differ between bugs that needs to be back ported and those who aren't?

The hooks tries to verify you merge patches in the right order: master -> stable branch.

Since this is a patch which only relevant to the stable branch, this is false positive, but we can't really 
differ today between patches like that to others.

This is why any project owner has permissions to remove any voting from patches on his project if he things its correct.
So in this case, feel free to remove the voting.
