IMO, it's ok to show hostname and API documentation (not the API JSON responses, but something like http://docs.aws.amazon.com/AWSEC2/latest/APIReference/Welcome.html

The point is we should render something even if user is not logged in and that could be generic help pages on API or plugin development tutorial or sample plugin. Throwing login screen at people even before they know what they are getting into discourages people from exploring things. Let them try out few things or educate them on our product and then we should present a login screen.

Subject: [Kimchi-devel] [Wok] Exposing tabs when not logged
Date: Wed, Aug 12, 2015 3:29 AM

Hi team,

In the new UI design spec the navbar displays the plugins / tabs in the navbar even when the user is logged out. I was studying wok JS files and I’ve tried to load the tabs in the DOM tree in the login page with no success. Then It occurred to me: Is it right to show the tabs and hostname when the user is not logged in? I question this because in the tabs-ext.xml we can see the access roles and some tabs clearly are not supposed to be seen by non-admin users.

What are your thoughts?

Thanks,

Samuel
