I just went through a full re-install and could not get the first DC to bring up a gluster SD. 'could not acquire hostid' was the error reported. I believe the default settings in engine-setup was DC type NFS.

After a day of cursing I created a new DC, moved the hosts over, and was able to bring up a gluster storage domain without issue.

I'm attaching the logs for today, if someone can review and let me know what was going wrong, I'd like to open a BZ. I was actually bit by this issue a month ago but didn't realize what had changed while I was testing different configurations and was able to get a gluster storage SD working in a different DC.

My setup is as such, hosts:
ovirt001 <-- ovirt host, gluster host, ovirt-engine
ovirt002 <-- ovirt host, gluster host

On another note, I noticed with the package vdsm-hook-nestedvt my hosts were listed as non-operational, and that they did not support virtualization. Removing the packages solved the issue after a reboot.

Thanks,
