If you think it looks as if the first contains several workarounds, you are right. We have several open bugs about this tool. But the warning tone (and text) of the latter page will still stand, even after we fix them.

Not sure how to change a node FQDN - perhaps we have docs for that. You can always (if you have more than one node) move it to maintenance, remove it, and re-add with a new name.
