to match the OS and VM Display type;-)
Configuration is in osinfo….e.g. if that is import from older releases on Linux this is typically caused by the cahgen of cirrus to vga for non-SPICE VMs

yep, the default supported combinations for 4.0+ is this:
os.other.devices.display.protocols.value = spice/qxl,vnc/vga,vnc/qxl,vnc/cirrus
