Hi Timo,

that's a complex task, so if you wish to take the short way - just restore from backup.

Otherwise you have 2 options:
1. Reinstall the system with the same name (I suppose you need the gluster's folders' backup) and then use gluster's "reset-brick" if you have lost both OS and gluster disks. In case only OS was lost , then gluster will connect with the rest of the cluster and heal anything missing.
2. Create a new system (new hostname actually) , then you need to add it to the rest of the cluster (should be visible in gluster peer status). Then you can use the gluster's 'replace brick' option to completely replace the missing brick. Once the heal is over, you can check if oVirt has already detected that the gluster is back to normal.
Then you forcefully remove the old machine and add the new one to the cluster.

Still, the above is more theory than exact guide -so do not hesitate to contact both ovirt and gluster users' mailing lists in case of an issue.

Strahil Nikolov

Hello,

i can't find the documentation on howto recover from a single host OS disk failure in a 3 node HCI cluster.
I already searched the ovirt, RHV and RHHI documentation but i can't find the corresponding documentation.
So can anyone please give me some hints?

In our dev lab i have 3 servers with 2 disks each. sda for ovirt node and sdb for gluster. Let's assume the disk sda of a single node is defunct and needs to be replaced.
So i grab a new disk and reinstall ovirt node from PXE.
After the installation is finished i would like to reinstall the host from ovirt admin portal, but that doesn't work because of an invalid fingerprint.

So how can i re-add that host to ovirt and gluster?

Kind regards,
Timo
