Thanks for your clarification Julian, creating new Gluster brick from ovirt's REST API is not currently supported, only from UI.

Section 6.92.2 documents a POST request that lets one add *existing* bricks to an existing volume.
This doesn't answer my question on how one can create *new* bricks via the REST API.
