Never tried that with virtualbox, but it does work with nested kvm.

So either it's really a too-old cpu, or you need to find out how to enable
nested virt - in your BIOS, OS or virtualbox.

I successfully used VirtualBox in the past to test for example Oracle RAC inside a virtualized environment, but unfortunately Nested Virtualization seems an "ancient" request on VirtualBox issue tracker but not satisfied yet:
