Since 4.2.7 you have --restore-from-file=backup.tar.gz option in hosted-engine tool.

You should take a backup with engine-backup and redeploy on a new storage domain.

It will be fully automated and at the end you will have a new engine VM on a different storage domain; everything else will be imported with the backup.

The old HE storage domain will be still visible in the new engine if you have to move other disks created there or similar, after that you can manually decommission it.
