I'm having a similar problem. The passtrough needs 2 steps, the first is to attach the host device to the VM, but if you don't enable the spice usb the vm fails to start. I don't know if the USB works straight from the host device or if it depends on the spice console.

In my case, a device that work in a windows 10 pc doesn't work in a windows 10 vm.

Maybe we both can get help in this matter.
