Keep in mind that OVN is not for host networking but overlay for VM networks. And there are cases when it makes sense that networks are created outside
and reused as part of oVirt.

network created outside of oVirt,  this situation should be rare.
in the use of oVirt scenarios, generally through the management interface to create a network, why would outside oVirt to create a network?

Thank you for your reply.

I also want to continue to ask, why is it necessary to constantly synchronize this content? Based on what considerations?

The synchronization ensures that any OVN network created outside of oVirt will be synchronized,
unfortunately I don't remember the reason why 5 minutes was chosen as the default interval.

In the new version of 4.5, we can see a lot of OVN synchronization items in the engine logs, very frequently, which was not seen in previous versions.

Is it a new feature?

Hi,

the synchronization was done always, in 4.5 we log in addition the start and end.

If that's too much you can either disable the synchronization or change the interval.

You can disable it in webadmin: Administration -> Providers -> ovirt-provider-ovn -> Edit -> uncheck Automatic Synchronization -> Ok.

To increase the interva run on engine machine:
engine-config --set ExternalNetworkProviderSynchronizationRate=$INTERVAL_IN_SECS
systemctl restart ovirt-engine

Let us know if you have any further questions.

Regards,
Ales
