NFS Storage domain backup

Hi , I'm using NFS storage domain, is it possible to backup the domain manually? or is there an api in ovirt which support this? For manual backup, is possible to use tools like rsync ? or the data will not be consistent ? Any idea of possible solutions for this?;as we don't have dedicated storage box. Thanks, Mohyedeen.

Just detach the storage domain (for consistency). Than you can "tar" the whole thing, maybe other methods work too, but most do not very well when it comes to sparse files. Use tar with the "-S" flag. HTH PS: There is also a backup api and you can try to backup running vms with live snapshots. -- Mit freundlichen Grüßen / Regards Sven Kieske Systemadministrator Mittwald CM Service GmbH & Co. Thanks Sven, Detaching the domain is not an option, sorry if did not make it clear i meant to backup the storage domain while VMs are running. Also regarding the Live Snapshot option, The live snapshot simply create a second hardisk for the VM and start to write on it.. it does not do any backup just a restore point. Thanks, Mohye. Yes exactly, so you can safely backup the first disk. You have a consistent point in time backup. But it depends on your workload, if you run dbs inside the vm you want to have an agent for backups in the vms. there is plenty of documentation on this topic available. -- Mit freundlichen Grüßen / Regards Sven Kieske Systemadministrator Mittwald CM Service GmbH & Co.
