[ANN] oVirt 3.5.0 Second Alpha is now available for testing

The oVirt team is pleased to announce that the 3.5.0 Second Alpha is now available for testing. Feel free to join us testing it! You'll find all needed info for installing it on the release notes page, already available on the wiki [1]. A new oVirt Live iso is already available for testing[2] including all available updates from CentOS. An oVirt Guest Tools iso is now available too[3]. A new oVirt Node build will be available soon as well. Please note that mirrors will need a couple of days before being synchronized. If you want to be sure to use latest rpms and don't want to wait for the mirrors, you can edit /etc/yum.repos.d/ovirt-3.5.repo commenting the mirror line and removing the comment on baseurl line. Known Issues You can't add hosts to 3.5 clusters until a new VDSM build with 3.5 compatibility level will be released (All in One won't work). Hi I was just wondering how multipath iscsi is handled in 3.5. In 3.4 there is a button on the web interface under the data center tab that could be used to configure multipathing for storage domains but not direct luns. This seems to be missing in 3.5 Beta from what i can tell. We are particularly interested if multipathing will work with direct lun, as we have to keep bodging custom changes into the vdsm python with each new version. (We currently use EqualLogic). If this is not available in 3.4, it will also not be in 3.5 - nobody worked on such feature in 3.5.

The best way to avoid customizing vdsm is to get your patches merged upstream. Do you want to describe what are you trying to do, and how do you modify vdsm?
Thanks

I've had similar issues with Equallogic, as Gary has described earlier=20 here:=20 https://sites.google.com/a/keele.ac.uk/partlycloudy/ovirt/gettingovirttow= orkwithdellequallogic. I've used his patch as a baseline (thanks for the original effort,=20 Gary!) with some minor fixes/additions and the code can be found here:=20 https://github.com/futurice/vdsm/tree/equallogic-multiple-iscsi-ifaces The main issue seems to be that VDSM didn't work properly when multiple=20 network interfaces are used to connect to the iSCSI storage, as is the=20 situation with our Equallogic installation. The patch is currently=20 against vdsm version 4.13.2 and we've been using it as well with=20 version 4.13.3. Nir, feel free to comment. I am not sure if this patch is ready for=20 upstream yet, but hopefully it illustrates some issues that may need=20 solving. Hey, a fresh oVirt Node build is also available now: http://resources.ovirt.org/pub/ovirt-3.5-pre/iso/ovirt-node-iso-3.5.0.ovirt3... To circumvent some SELinux issues, please append enforcing=0 to the kernel commandline when booting the ISO. The ISO is missing the plugin for Hosted Engine, but we hope to deliver an iso which includes this plugin shortly. Greetings fabian
