I've just started some changes to ovirt.org to show recent community
activity. Work is happening and we want people to see that.
http://ovirt.org/community-activity
... and a bundled git commit RSS feed in the sidebar on the side.
(Except it's showing the oldest commits first ...)
This concept could quickly stretch to cover other activities; I picked
git and the wiki as heavy activity areas that already give RSS feeds
(thankfully.) (The wiki recent changes are on the far end of the feed,
since it's in reverse date ...)
And the output could be prettier with more information. I'd like to
run the RSS tools locally (the sidebar feed is a Yahoo! Pipes bundle,
for example ... and why I can't control the feed.)
I'm still looking for tools and solutions, and welcome any help. One
solution is to use SimplePie in Wordpress, which is a PHP class for
handling RSS:
http://simplepie.org/
If anyone could spare a few cycles, I could use some help hacking a
solution up to:
1. Take an arbitrary list of RSS URLs.
2. Merge the feeds in to one feed that can be sorted by date, source, etc.
3. Use that feed plus more PHP and CSS skills to improve on the
output in Wordpress.
Cheers - Karsten
