core: remove commented out PowerMock tests

These tests were commented out in
7469b8d5392840a30e1cb8e6a05eafce83114d6c, as they used PowerMock and
slowed down the build considerably.

This patch was merged almost three years ago, and by now the code in
these tests has grown stale, and cannot be re-entered into the project
without an effort akin to completely rewriting them.
Since no such effort has been attempted in the last three years it's
quite clear that there's no such interest, and the current commented out
code serves no purpose and thus should simply be removed.
