Hi,

the subject says it all really. I´ve been setting up oVirt-3.1 and
absolutely love it, I must say. There´s just that you have to take down
a guest to make snapshots that ticks me off a little. It disrupts
production. So how far off, 6 months, a year, two years? What priority
has it on the roadmap? Any response would appreciated, it makes it
easier to plan a migration.

ovirt 3.1 has support for live snapshots.
as Jason indicated, the gap is actually in the qemu version in fedora 17.

Awesome news, thanks! Two follow-up questions about that

1) ovirt-engine flashes up a screen saying that it can´t do snapshot because the guest is active. If/when qemu gets updated, will the engine automatically stop complaining and snapshot live, or will the engine require update as well?

2) Do you think qemu-1.1 is going to be available for F17, like ever? Like through backporting, MFC, whatnot? Hacking/rebuilding rpm´s is something only RH employees should be engaged in, purely for testing. I have enough troubles getting out of bed as it is, haha:)
