Hi Raul,
for now, the fix should include the ability to "switch" storage types only through the import process,and not through the attach process.
I think that the import process might be enough because you can always remove the Storage Domain and re-import it to the setup as another storage type.

You are right, mixed type data center is a feature introduced in version 3.4 (see http://www.ovirt.org/Features/Mixed_Types_Data_Center),
There should be only two type of Data Center local and shared.
The import Storage Domain feature is supported only from version 3.5 so it can only be supported in mixed type Data Centers.
