JProfiler opensource license

Hi, In order to get an opensource license for our developers, we need to place a JProfiler logo[1] in our front page, with a link[2]. Any objections? Thanks, Doron [1] http://www.ej-technologies.com/buy/jprofiler/openSource/enter [2] http://www.ej-technologies.com/products/jprofiler/overview.html.

Hi, Any of the people on this list should be able to update the front page: http://www.ovirt.org/index.php?title=Special%3AListUsers&username=&group=bureaucrat&limit=50 I would appreciate someone else taking on this task. In fact, this requirement is one of the reasons I was personally not in favour of this arrangement. I do not think it's appropriate for us to be promoting a non-free Java profiler. Regards, Dave. Hi Dave, I can handle the technical part, but sent this for a general advice on whether this is acceptable or not. I know that many projects are using similar concepts, for example to use jira (Apache), etc. ----- Original Message ----- | From: "Dave Neary" <dneary@redhat.com> | To: "Doron Fediuck" <dfediuck@redhat.com> | Cc: "board" <board@ovirt.org>, "Liran Zelkha" <lzelkha@redhat.com> | Sent: Tuesday, July 30, 2013 3:57:31 PM | Subject: Re: JProfiler opensource license | | Hi, | | Any of the people on this list should be able to update the front page: | http://www.ovirt.org/index.php?title=Special%3AListUsers&username=&group=bureaucrat&limit=50 | | | I would appreciate someone else taking on this task. Not sure if promoting proprietary software for free on the homepage of ovirt is a good idea. Can we discuss adding them to the partners/sponsor/members page as an alternative? Added Liran. Can you please check with them if the partners/sponsor/members page will work?
To provide some historical context, that is the exact purpose of the sponsors and supporters page as I understood it when we were creating the project governance and putting the website together. http://www.ovirt.org/Sponsors_and_supporters JimJag or Carl might be able to shed more light here. The key is that we are not giving preferential treatment to any one sponsor over another. All strategic supporters have their logos in alphabetical order, achieved through making a much higher level of commitment to oVirt than providing a no-cost license for an open source project. On that page is the supporters section, which is where the JProfiler logo is appropriate - their providing a no-cost license is supporting the project. - Karsten -- Karsten 'quaid' Wade http://TheOpenSourceWay.org .^\ http://community.redhat.com @quaid (identi.ca/twitter/IRC) \v' gpg: AD0E0C41

Just to avoid a repeat discussion, this topic was previously brought up with the project board: http://lists.ovirt.org/pipermail/board/2013-April/000869.html My reaction was here: http://lists.ovirt.org/pipermail/board/2013-May/000878.html At the time, there was not much discussion, but aside from myself and Karsten, there was no opposition.
