The module information is stored as *modules.yaml file (compressed).
You can see example here

Here is also information on creating those

IMO it’s just easier to leave that to reposync. Maybe we can just update reposync instead
of the whole OS?

That's something added to the reposync version coming with CentOS8, so we should
probably upgrade to that version.
