* Infra presentation at oVirt Workshop -- Barcelona I'm currently on the hook to give this presentation. I haven't started it yet, but my abstract is below. Any ideas/suggestions on things I should include/cover/concentrate on/gloss over? Thanks Mike oVirt Infrastructure Overview An overview of the various infrastructure tools and services available in the ovirt.org domain. We’ll discuss various aspects from how different tools are leveraged with a heavy focus on the use of Jenkins for build and test automation, Gerrit for source code management, and Puppet for configuring the various servers for different uses. We’ll also discuss how we grew the infrastructure from a just a couple of EC2 hosts to where we are today, to where we’re planning to go in the future. This is primarily geared toward people interested in how we go about managing and coordinating the various pieces of infrastructure in the oVirt site. It will range from high level discussion of what we're trying to accomplish to diving into some of the technical details. I'd like this talk to be very interactive, but will be prepared to present in the event there aren't a lot of questions.

Hi, In the "Future developments", it would be good to talk about the move to OpenShift for some services and AlterWay's oVirt based hosting for others. I'm happy to give you more details about this. Also, I think the key transition in the past 6 months has been to a community-oriented infra team which Karsten has led - some of the challenges we've had (and still have) are how to expose enough of the infrastructure for someone to prove themselves, then allowing people a sand-box to prove themselves further, and finally growing a community team to handle project infrastructure. Another interesting story I think people will be interested in is the way we have been working on the website, publicly seeking comments, developing a theme in the open (on GitHub, even), and are now deploying the new site to OpenShift. Garrett's done a great job on this. Cheers, Dave. On 10/15/2012 01:39 PM, Mike Burns wrote:

ACK, will definitely include this.

Yes, would definitely talk about this in a recent improvements

Excellent thought.

It's probably worth mentioning that I have a specific goal in my Red Hat team to transition away from myself as the single point of failure for so many things oVirt-infrastructure. Aside from the usual "hit by a raptor"-value of making sure that >1 person can do things, it's explicitly my goal to have this team operate independently. I want to see oVirt Infra able to be lead by anyone interested and capable, regardless of email address. I hope some of you are keeping your eye on this idea, as one day we'll want to have some kind of elections or a choosing system for Infra leadership, and I don't plan on running for a seat. ;-D - Karsten
