Hi, I would like to request creation of an ovirt-docs GIT repository for any and all documentation activity which is to occur outside of the wiki, particularly in formats that might initially be imported from other sources (DocBook XML). Thanks, Steve

I assume that the standard policy of 'he who thought of it does it' applies...at least initially. I just need the repository created so I can being importing some content as appropriate. -Steve

Itamar - can you bounce to me the documentation you have for gerrit.ovirt.org setup? I'd like to clean it up for the Infrastructure wiki. As it stands, I think Itamar is the only one with the knowledge on how to setup new repos in the current setup ... but I really don't know. :) - - Karsten - -- name: Karsten 'quaid' Wade, Sr. Community Architect team: Red Hat Community Architecture & Leadership uri: http://communityleadershipteam.org http://TheOpenSourceWay.org gpg: AD0E0C41 -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.11 (GNU/Linux) Comment: Using GnuPG with Mozilla - http://enigmail.mozdev.org/ iD8DBQFOwrQJ2ZIOBq0ODEERAjR2AKCrzpQSsksPlZNiAcgGc68ZlvEkcACgy2Td 5/dTcSwy/NY9reTYZhTU120= =XoaY -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----

I have a small backlog of items - will try to close this one soon.

Makes good sense. Only thing I suggest is to make the repository simply 'docs'. - - Karsten - -- name: Karsten 'quaid' Wade, Sr. Community Architect team: Red Hat Community Architecture & Leadership uri: http://communityleadershipteam.org http://TheOpenSourceWay.org gpg: AD0E0C41 -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.11 (GNU/Linux) Comment: Using GnuPG with Mozilla - http://enigmail.mozdev.org/ iD8DBQFOwpsC2ZIOBq0ODEERAs5+AJ41QIedjN5MgVBciTZnkHVWogKb4ACfS6+X OL5PBVFc7iyvw1bE9lxDgmw= =zIlK -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----

I asked for ovirt-docs as we appear to have consistently attached 'ovirt-' as the prefix for the names of all the other repositories. Was there any particular reason for this? -Steve

I suspect it is leftover from fedorahosted.org. I didn't create the instances nor notice the naming, I presumed the ovirt- prefix would be dropped when we had our own stand-alone git. *shrug* I recommend we do just that from now on; no idea if we should 'fix' the existing repos or not. - - Karsten - -- name: Karsten 'quaid' Wade, Sr. Community Architect team: Red Hat Community Architecture & Leadership uri: http://communityleadershipteam.org http://TheOpenSourceWay.org gpg: AD0E0C41 -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.11 (GNU/Linux) Comment: Using GnuPG with Mozilla - http://enigmail.mozdev.org/ iD8DBQFOwrOr2ZIOBq0ODEERAgcVAJ4/X12QVMcwDcDqyLhl/dBDQUU5vQCfXCPh Fi5Lkl2cn8CdnGLOVAWfNvc= =n43J -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----

it's not a leftover - idea is for repo name to match the component name we gave it, which for some components include the ovirt prefix (vdsm being the exception for now). my view is repo name should be reasonably representative even when not in our git server. i.e., i don't think docs, engine, cli, sdk, etc. are descriptive enough for a github mirror, and i'd hate to have a mirrored repo with a different repo name unless a must.

I agree. convention for all other repos so far (other than vdsm) is ovirt-* so ovirt-docs sounds better to me it also means anyone doing a simple 'git clone' will get it in a folder called ovirt-docs rather than just docs. unless there are any objections, i'll create an ovirt-docs git repo in gerrit. Steve - please register to gerrit so i can add you as a maintainer for it.

Not sure if my ACK made it through already, but +1 to this as you've explained it, makes sense. - - Karsten - -- name: Karsten 'quaid' Wade, Sr. Community Architect team: Red Hat Community Architecture & Leadership uri: http://communityleadershipteam.org http://TheOpenSourceWay.org gpg: AD0E0C41 -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.11 (GNU/Linux) Comment: Using GnuPG with Mozilla - http://enigmail.mozdev.org/ iD8DBQFOwtDK2ZIOBq0ODEERAg65AKDURkTnHadjaLUW3Z03SL+K4rcvFwCgr9/h 4suKSZVm1bBCoUOiZKwyWk8= =yprp -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----

Steve - you should be ready to go - ping me if you have issues - it is the first "empty" repo created.
