Currently Jenkins is configured to use SSH to query Gerrit. There is an option to enable the REST API as well which is useful when event-log plugin is installed on the Gerrit ( OVIRT-1196 ). 

Jenkins tries to connect to the API to confirm if the plugin is installed which is currently flooding the logs with messages like this:
INFO: Started GerritMissedEventsPlaybackEnabledChecker
Feb 07, 2018 12:57:06 PM com.sonyericsson.hudson.plugins.gerrit.trigger.utils.GerritPluginChecker buildURL
WARNING: REST API is not enabled.
