Well, if I listen to peoples voices, RHEL is Fine, CentOS is fine(they are practically the same). Fedora is also fine, but not suitable for server. CentOS seem to be running on something else, RHEL not(or did I misunderstand this one?) Some slight favourism of centos. Dont mix OS:es if you can avoid it, and you can, are you running CentOS already, go with it. Personal experience with running jenkins on RHEL for the past 2 years puts me in favor for RHEL. I have no experience using CentOS at for any service, so i vote +1 for RHEL 6.3. If it's no issue to get RHEL as fast as we can get Centos, i'd say lets go for it. Eyal.

-1 I think we should install CentOS right now. (I wanted the hosts up 2 weeks ago so Ewoud and I could have a hackfest over the holiday break.) We can't take any more delay, even if it's just "a few days" to get the subscriptions sorted out. We want to run CentOS *somewhere* because that's one of the main platforms that oVirt runs on. It's one of the main server environments that our Infra team has experience with already. It attracts other CentOS admins to help with infrastructure. Regarding a mixed environment, I think we should embrace it. I wonder if we don't see a lot of involvement from the Debian or OpenSUSE groups because the project looks like "it's all about Red Hat"? I feel that pushing 100% RHEL for our environment is a detriment to our ability to grow this community beyond Red Hat-enthusiasts. For the next set of hosts at RackSpace, I think we should put on RHEL.
After that, I have no policy preference.

We want to run CentOS *somewhere* because that's one of the main platforms that oVirt runs on. It's one of the main server environments that our Infra team has experience with already. It attracts other CentOS admins to help with infrastructure.

This is a good point. We should embrace diversity where it helps show our community as being diverse, and when it does not adversely affect our ability to administer our network. I don't think it's a good idea to have a different operating system on each server we run, but certainly within reason, CentOS can be used. And now that we have clarified that we can have RHEL entitlements in the future, we have RHEL as an option for other servers. Let's implement the pre-Christmas decision of the infrastructure team and move on.
