To throw in my 2cents worth - I am totally happy with a mailing list and
see absolutely no need for a change.
I heard that Google is very good at indexing btw. as is my mailreader.

The comparison with Jira was probably wrong, although you don't have to use Jira like
a ticketing system. I just wanted to express that I would like some kind of a modern tool.
Something like StackOverflow maybe. Or a simple forum software.
