no, it is not moVirt specific - you need to import the certificate to your device. You can do it by navigating to the <engine url>/ca.crt from some browser on your device (e.g. chrome) and import it - it will ask you if you want to import it. You can verify that the cert is imported by going to the settings->security->trusted credentials->user. Than you need to make sure that in moVirt settings you are setting the same url as the engine url as the cert name is set.
Other point, I have a very long vm list, but I can't scroll down.
How does it behave? There is a known bug that when there is a long list of VMs the events are pushed out of the screen. But the VMs should still be scrollable...
