but you don't need to convert the vmdk to qcow2 necessarily - take a look
at virt-v2v to do this for you, including changing drivers, etc.
As could could see virt-v2v converts VMWare ESX/ESXi VMs, but I have on
VMWare Server 2.x.
Also I have Citrix XenServer VMs.
