I've since created a vm. I have a couple other things to investigate. For some reason #3 rejected the vm and installing the vm on #2 was really slow (rhel5 and ~4 hrs).
First was "failed to open socket to sanlock daemon" and I set selinux to permissive to get around it. The slowness was improved with async.
