well, my hope is you won't have to fiddle with the host, rather should
be able to do all of this from the gui.
a bridge should be auto created if you attach a network which is a "vm
network".
bridge is required for vm connectivity, but incurs overhead, so for
management/storage/migration networks you can avoid it in some cases.
