Afterwards they should boot with the new version if= you did configure to always use the lastest version.=20 Performance of the virtual desktops depends on some things:=20 - protocol (Spice is really great in our tests) - also make sure you instal= l all VirtIO drivers in your vms=20 - bandwith - this is no problem in the LAN, but for WAN setups this could b= e an issue. Watching full HD videos in your vms can require 40mbit/s...=20 - thin clients - they need good graphics cards and at least 2gb ram and 2 c= pu cores, better 4...=20 Most of my customers use GPOs for their virtual desktops, as it's easier to= configure group policies then updating the master template too often...=20 I hope this helps...=20 Regards,=20 Ren=C3=A9=20 From: "Colin Coe" <colin.coe@gmail.com>=20 To: Users@ovirt.org=20 Sent: Friday, January 29, 2016 1:20:15 PM=20 Subject: [ovirt-users] VDI non-persistant desktops=20 Hi all=20 We're using RHEV 3.5.7 and have about 40 desktop VMs that are all clones fr= om a single original.=20 In the very beginning we used desktop pools but this was torn down when we = started getting "The trust relationship between this workstation and the pr= imary domain failed" error messages.=20 We use DHCP for all desktops however every VM is defined on the DHCP server= and unknown MACs are rejected.=20 I'd like to revisit desktop pools but I'd like to know if other are using t= his and what their experiences have been.=20 Kind of thing I'd like to know is=20 - how is patching done=20 - what is the performance like=20 - what tuning if any is done on the desktops=20 - GPO vs LPO=20 Any comments?=20 Thanks=20 CC=20 _______________________________________________=20 Users mailing list=20 Users@ovirt.org=20 http://lists.ovirt.org/mailman/listinfo/users=20 ------=_Part_8264_999400629.1454158667138 Content-Type: text/html; charset=utf-8 Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable <html><body><div style=3D"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-s= ize: 12pt; color: #000000"><div>Hi Colin,<br></div><div><br data-mce-bogus= =3D"1"></div><div>I normally use desktop pools for virtual machines, which = are the same, and single desktops for individual vms.<br data-mce-bogus=3D"= 1"></div><div>So mostly office vms are from a pool and admin vms aren't.<br= data-mce-bogus=3D"1"></div><div><br data-mce-bogus=3D"1"></div><div>For pa= tching you can either use some tools like Microsoft WSUS or for Linux vms K= atello/Satellite/... or if you're using desktop pools it's also possible to= patch the master image, create a new template with a new version and shut = down all you vms.
