That should be the absolute path on the host where you want the OVA file to be created. This is mainly intended for a scenario in which you have a shared storage mounted to some of the hosts in the data center and then you pick one of those hosts and the directory indicates the mountpoint, e.g., host A and directory /mnt/export. But the 'directory' can point to a local directory as well.
