The error message you've got was meant to avoid removing a snapshot from a broken chain. On the Active VM snapshot -> Disks, is there any disk with Illegal status? Deleting the whole snapshot can be done from the DB: delete from snapshots where snapshot_id = '.....'; Although it's recommended to understand the root cause for that one.
