It is a hypervisor host config which assigns VLANS to its ethernet interfaces. Each hypervisor host in a cluster needs them set for any VMs on vlan networks. Configuring this part of the host or things like pci passthrough through the engine UI is not the same as 'editing' a host . Creating logical networks doesn't automagically set them up on your hosts. You seem to have missed the step where you go to the host configuration and 'setup host networks' for the VLANs. Bring up the compute/hosts view. Double click on the hostname you want to change networks on, select the networks tab and from there setup host networks. drag the VLAN network from the right over to the interface it should be on and save.

In VMWare; this can be accomplished by nic teaming/trunking (802.3 ad) and then pass the traffic to the switch.
From what I have read in oVirt I need to define ovs switches first; I'd like to simply pass L2 to the switch directly.

Hi,
there is nothing special for this case because a simple network defined without VLAN filtering should pass every traffic. If you want to pass the traffic into VM I would suggest to start without any traffic filter.
