what the sequence of shutdown in Cluster enviroment

Hi man,There is always a doubt what the sequence of shutdown in Cluster enviroment. The enviroment like as: engine.host.com node.host1.com node.host2.com FCSAN host1 and host2 are in the same cluster. By the way, after I shutdown all the host, what the sequence of start in Cluster enviroment. Best regards.

Hi, we have an ansible role specifically designed to automate this: https://github.com/oVirt/ovirt-ansible-shutdown-env On Tue, Nov 13, 2018 at 9:49 AM max zhang <patrickstar12358@hotmail.com> wrote:

Thanks,I read the link just now,But I would like to do it manually(Just because I am not often to do it).Would you like to tell me the sequence about shutdown? Like as: shutdown>> step1:shutdown all VMs is running step2:shutdown host1 step2:shutdown host2 step3:shutdown engine step4:shutdown FCSAN storage start>> step1:start FCSAN storage step2:start engine step2:start host1 step3:start host2 I don't know whether I am right.

I really depends if you are on hosted-engine or not and if on hyper converged or not, if power management is configured and so on. If not hosted-engine at all and no power management, I'd suggest: shutdown: 1. shutdown all VMs 2. set host1 and host2 in maintenance mode from the engine (just to ensure that all the locks on storage side are properly removed otherwise the restart could take more time) 3. shutdown the engine host 4. shutdown hosts 5. shutdown your SAN start: 1. start the SAN 2. start hosts 3. start engine host 4. remove hosts from maintenance 5. start VMs
Like as: shutdown>> step1:shutdown all VMs is running step2:shutdown host1 step2:shutdown host2 step3:shutdown engine step4:shutdown FCSAN storage start>> step1:start FCSAN storage step2:start engine step2:start host1 step3:start host2
