Hi,
the subject says it all really. I=B4ve been setting up oVirt-3.1 and absolu=
tely love it, I must say. There=B4s just that you have to take down a guest=
to make snapshots that ticks me off a little. It disrupts production. So h=
ow far off, 6 months, a year, two years? What priority has it on the roadma=
p? Any response would appreciated, it makes it easier to plan a migration.

the subject says it all really. I´ve been setting up oVirt-3.1 and
absolutely love it, I must say. There´s just that you have to take
down a guest to make snapshots that ticks me off a little. It
disrupts production. So how far off, 6 months, a year, two years?
What priority has it on the roadmap? Any response would appreciated,
it makes it easier to plan a migration.
It works for me now with the current 3.1 beta, as long as my host is running qemu 1.1.
I've been taking qemu 1.1 packages for F18
(http://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/buildinfo?buildID=344871) and rebuilding them for
F17.

ovirt 3.1 has support for live snapshots.
as Jason indicated, the gap is actually in the qemu version in fedora 17.

1) ovirt-engine flashes up a screen saying that it can=B4t do snapshot beca=
use the guest is active. If/when qemu gets updated, will the engine automat=
ically stop complaining and snapshot live, or will the engine require updat=
e as well?
2) Do you think qemu-1.1 is going to be available for F17, like ever? Like =
through backporting, MFC, whatnot? Hacking/rebuilding rpm=B4s is something =
only RH employees should be engaged in, purely for testing. I have enough t=
roubles getting out of bed as it is, haha:)

qemu-1.1 is available in rawhide/f18 and in the virt-preview repository here
