self-hosted-engine Failed to establish session with host

Hi guys, I initially installed an AllinOne oVirt installation, but realised half way through that I actually need a self-hosted-engine instead, so I did an engine-cleanup and removed the database etc then ran... yum install ovirt-hosted-engine-setup hosted-engine --deploy I installed Centos 6.4 minimal on the VM then did a full yum update to 6.6 and restarted as well as disabled selinux. Everything went through perfectly and my engine is up and running, however my installation suddenly terminated when trying to add the host to the Default datacenter as follows.... [ INFO ] Engine replied: DB Up!Welcome to Health Status! Enter the name of the cluster to which you want to add the host (Default) [Default]: [ ERROR ] Cannot automatically add the host to cluster Default: Cannot add Host. Connecting to host via SSH has failed, verify that the host is reachable (IP address, routable address etc.) You may refer to the engine.log file for further details. [ ERROR ] Failed to execute stage 'Closing up': Cannot add the host to cluster Default [ INFO ] Stage: Clean up [ INFO ] Generating answer file '/var/lib/ovirt-hosted-engine-setup/answers/answers-20150804143614.conf' [ INFO ] Stage: Pre-termination [ INFO ] Stage: Termination I've attached my engine.log and my answer file. I have confirmed that both systems are able to reach each other, so I'm not sure if it's perhaps some kind of DNS related issue perhaps? Note that I'm only using host file resolution and not internal DNS names. Please could someone take a look and see if you are able to pick up anything obvious please. Thank you! Regards. Hi guys, I've gone through the oVirt admin front end as a test and I see I've been able to add the host to the Default datacenter manually. Not sure if perhaps this worked manually because it used root and I specified the password perhaps instead? Would be interesting to find out why this failed the automatic addition though. Thank you! Sorry to be replying to my own post, but I'm not sure if by adding the Host manually that I've perhaps messed up something now? How do I go about adding my default NFS storage domain because no storage domain exists currently despite my hosted_engine being a VM already running on my default domain? In fact when I look at my hosted_engine and go to disks it shows there is no disk at all. Thanks! Regards. Neil Wilson. On Tue, Aug 4, 2015 at 3:27 PM, Neil <nwilson123@gmail.com> wrote:

hosted-engine-setup was indeed doing something more on the HA side. I suggest to clean-up and try again, manually configuring it will requires more time.

It's attended: on oVirt 3.5 the hosted-engine storage domain (and also the engine VM by the way) are not directly managed by the engine. You have to add an additional Storage Domain for other VMs.
Thanks!

did you checked it using the host hostname or just the IP address? we generate and sign the cert for the hostname and so the engine VM should be able to connect to the host using the hostname.
