Hi! I'm testing the HA in oVirt 3.3, it should work if i'm running a vm on a host that suddenly get out of connection? because that's not working for me. The HA works if i put in maintenance the host where the VM is running, but if the host get down the vm get in unknown state. That's how it should work? I would like that the vm automatically change of host if the one that's is running get out of conectivity, this is possible? Regards! -- *Emiliano Tortorella* +598 98941176 emitor@gmail.com

that's live migration, not HA. HA is for failure, in which case engine should start the VM on another host.

yes. but you need to configure power management so engine can fence the non responsive host.

Thanks Itamar! So there is no way to get HA without power management? It doesn't use the connectivity issue as a reason for migrate the vm? Thanks 2013/10/2 Itamar Heim <iheim@redhat.com>

HA is currently controlled by the engine, which needs to know the VM isn't running on the host to launch it on another host. we're looking at relying on sanlock for engine to be able to launch the VM on another host without fencing the first host.

Hi, on RHEV 3.x it works as emitor needs, oVirt has another behavior ?

Hi Andres, oVirt behaves just like RHEV. What Itamar refers to are thoughts we have on using storage based synchronization of the HA information, which will remove the need of fencing. This is still in the "thinking" phase, but some bits of it are already being implemented as a part of the hosted engine feature.
