Re: All Windows vms report "Actual timezone in guest doesn't match configuration"

I got my questions mixed up, restarting guest services does nothing.

I can confirm this, we observe the same after we upgraded from 4.2 to 4.3 Regards Tobias

Seeing the same thing here. The Windows 2012R2 VM is set to "(GMT -05:00) US Eastern Standard Time", the guest agent is reporting "Eastern Daylight Time (UTC--04:-00)" (the second - is probably because it word wraps after UTC), and Windows 2012R2 is set to "(UTC -05:00) Eastern Time (US & Canada)".

I wonder if the older agent would fix it? I think this issue started with 4.2.2

I am having this issue since 4.1.x. it seems to be related with the way windows reports timezones and how agent expects them.

Could you guys report: - version of guest tools installed - version of the OS - time zone settings in VM options - time zone settings in the guest OS - time zone displayed in 'Guest Info' tab - guestTimezone object in the output of the command: vdsm-client Host getAllVmStats Tomas

I tried that and it works OK for me on Windows 2012R2. The timezone from guest is reported as 'Eastern Standard Time'. For you however it sends 'Eastern Daylight Time'. I wonder if it is caused be some localization/time setting in your guest. Tomas -- Tomáš Golembiovský <tgolembi@redhat.com>

I wonder if it's something that has changed in server 2016 / server 2019? I haven't loaded server 2012 in over a year.

I tried also with Windows 10 (not Server I admit) and EST timezone worked for me. -- Tomáš Golembiovský <tgolembi@redhat.com>

Since windows runs in local time, did you set the hardware clock offset in oVirt for the guest to its local timezone? You have to do that and set the timezone in Windows itself. ovirt is going to default to use UTC offset for a guest.
