Ah, I didn't appreciate that. My main concern with running the OVA export was getting a consistent image. The machine I am exporting has a large disk which will take some time to export and I didn't want to have to shut the machine down for the duration of export operation. I see now, when I trigger an export that a snapshot is created. You'd need to provision a VM/template from the snapshot and export it to an OVA.
