Hey all, Isaac Rooskov here (Zanata Product Manager). For what it's worth, recently some Fedora projects have been moving from Transifex to Zanata - and the whole JBoss community utilizes Zanata. It is true that there are some features Transifex has that Zanata currently doesn't, however Zanata does have some great features: CopyTrans and Translation Merge that utilizes already translated content and if there are 100% matches to the new source, it reuses them. We also allow for comments to be left on translations - enabling translators and maintainers to easily discuss specific strings. Another great attribute of Zanata is that it is 100% OpenSource, free and you can even download the Zanata server and setup your own instance (if you didn't wish to use the current Zanata community instance). Hi, I believe that both projects(Zanata and Transifex) are excellent choices for oVirt, but I have doubts about the largest membership of one or another independent of features. I think it would be interesting to accomplish a test aimed at the adoption oVirt, where a version would be submitted to Transifex and myself will take care to disclose to the community, to feel how people receive, after we evaluating, what think about this plan ? I'm a big fan of Transifex, which is, like Zanata, open source. I also think that translation communities work in ecosystems, and it makes sense ot have oVirt where there is the biggest gathering of systems related & virt management projects - which looks to me to be around Transifex.

Isaac, Carlos, what would be involved in moving to Transifex? What would we gain and lose from the move?

Hi Dave :) It is easy to move things to and from Zanata - we like to work with communities, not lock them in. You can download the source and translated files, and takes these straight to any other translation tool. Both Transifex and Zanata have strengths and weaknesses. If there are any questions I can answer or ways we can improve Zanata for you all please do let me know. We have had some great ideas brought to us from the Fedora community (as an example) and are in the process of implementing.
