Getting kdump integration to work

Hello, I followed the feature's page [1] and added to my test hosts the following lines /etc/kdump: fence_kdump_nodes othernode-in-cluster fence_kdump_args -p 7410 -f auto -i 5 Further, I added a firewall rule on both machines: -A INPUT -p udp --dport 7410 -j ACCEPT and restarted kdump. Thanks! This procedure seem to work, engine reporting kdump as activated. It was rather unclear to me, since I run hosted engine: After host deploy they are in the default state, no PM configured. Hence, kdump integration is disabled and will never activate since PM has to be configured in the first place to install. Do you think it is a better idea to always activate kdump in the host deploy stage so it can later be activated correctly with PM configured?
Thanks a lot

Well, I've never tested kdump integration with hosted engine, so adding Sandro to the thread. I'm not sure if there's any value of Kdump integration for the hosted engine itself, but if hosted engine behaves according to following rules, you can be sure that your dump is not lost: 1. When VM with hosted engine is migrated from dumping host to the another host, the VM should have the same FQDN. If not, then you will have to change FenceKdumpDestinationAddress parameter accordingly 2. Also when VM with hosted engine is migrated to another host, not only ovirt-engine service has to started on it but also ovirt-fence-kdump-listener service has to be started Martin Perina

1. When VM with hosted engine is migrated from dumping host to the another host, the VM should have the same FQDN. If not, then you will have to change FenceKdumpDestinationAddress parameter accordingly
The VM doesn't change the FQDN or the engine will become unreachable for the HA agent and the VM will be restarted on a different host since the host will have score 0.
2. Also when VM with hosted engine is migrated to another host, not only ovirt-engine service has to started on it but also ovirt-fence-kdump-listener service has to be started
The migration doesn't affect enabled services.
