[Users] Call for Agenda Items -- oVirt Weekly Meeting 2012-05-02

Any agenda items for this week? Currently on the agenda: * Status of Next Release * Sub-project reports (engine, vdsm, node) * Review decision on Java 7 and Fedora jboss rpms in oVirt Engine * Upcoming workshops Also, I will not be able to attend this meeting, so if someone else can run it, I would appreciate it. Thanks Mike

Couple of questions: Would it be possible to get some kind of roadmap on the website? Maybe even just features planned for the next release or just a list of future features. I have seen a number of things mentioned in different power point slides, like local caching of templates. Be nice to have an idea where the project is headed. Is there any idea when Ovirt will support qcow2? On Mon, Apr 30, 2012 at 1:01 PM, Mike Burns <mburns@redhat.com> wrote:

there are feature pages on features as people push them. I agree it is a good idea to have per topic roadmaps.

this should work today - what are you missing exactly?

I am using the ovirt build 3.0 from the Feb release. When I create a disk for a new VM, there is no choice for container type. After creation, the interface lists the file type as RAW. So I kind of figured it wasn't an option yet. The changeable options are: Size Disk Type (System, Data) Interface (ide, virtio) Format (preallocated, thin provision) Then two check boxes for bootable wipe upon deletion On Tue, May 1, 2012 at 1:09 AM, Itamar Heim <iheim@redhat.com> wrote:

I am using local storage at the moment. But I am pretty sure that it was the same on the other server I had set up using NFS storage. On Tue, May 1, 2012 at 4:18 PM, Itamar Heim <iheim@redhat.com> wrote:

so why would you want to use qcow2 for the base image over raw? both would not occupy space until it is needed, since you are using a file system based storage domain. and raw gives better performance. (a snapshot would be qcow2 of course)
