The engine VM could be migrated just to hosted-engine configured hosts. Do you have another hosted-engine host up and with the required resources to accommodate the engine VM?

I opened an RFE still in 4.0.5 because I felt it counter-intuitive.... https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1399613 see my comments inside the bugzilla. but it was closed as not a bug.... ;-( It could have alleviated you from removing/readding host....
