Hi, I want to create a live snapshot of VM, but it failed with the following error :- There are 3 event logs : - - Snapshot '3July' creation for VM 'test' was initiated by admin. - Failed to create live snapshot '3July' for VM 'test'. VM restart is recommended. - Failed to complete snapshot '3July' creation for VM 'test'. Please help me to find some workaround for this... Thanks, Punit

Live snapshot depends on your version of qemu-kvm. For instance, on CentOS 6.5, the repositories no not provide yet the sufficient qemu version level. Thus, though oVirt allows trying to run a live snapshot, the underlying qemu will refuse. I thought I understood that people using very recent version of Fedora were able to install a capable qemu version. Wait and see. -- Nicolas Ecarnot

Hi Nicolas, Which version of qemu-kvm requried ??? is there any work around to install that version on centos 6.5 ?? Thanks, Punit On Thu, Jul 3, 2014 at 4:02 PM, Nicolas Ecarnot <nicolas@ecarnot.net> wrote:

Here is the workaround (quoted from this ML): Am 31.05.2014 18:23, schrieb Christian Rebel:> Hi Maurice & Maor,
I had exactly the same issue and in order to fix it I implemented the
below workaround, hope I will not have any further problems with it…
But you have to keep in mind that the Snapshot are not getting deleted
afterwards, I think this issue is targeted for Release 3.5 with the Feature “Live Merge”
Workaround: I installed in Force Mode all qemu*5.8.x86*.rpm Packages from
<http://jenkins.ovirt.org/view/All/job/qemu-kvm-rhev_create-rpms_el6/lastStableBuild/> http://jenkins.ovirt.org/view/All/job/qemu-kvm-rhev_create-rpms_el6/lastStab... on the physical hosts (BTW my hosts are running on CentOS 6.5 with latest yum updates).

you need to deploy a qemu-kvm-rhev rpm. jenkins.ovirt.org has it. its not about qemu-kvm version, its about this feature not available in the base .el6 distro.

Is it correct to say that actually the name for the package with rhev features is without "rhev" in its name? Because I find right now only qemu-kvm-0.12.1.2-2.415.el6_5.10.x86_64 under http://jenkins.ovirt.org/job/qemu-kvm-rhev_create-rpms_el6/lastBuild/artifac... Or did I miss anything in latest changes? ----------------------------------- I installed in Force Mode all qemu*5.8.x86*.rpm Packages from <
http://jenkins.ovirt.org/view/All/job/qemu-kvm-rhev_create-rpms_el6/lastStab...
http://jenkins.ovirt.org/view/All/job/qemu-kvm-rhev_create-rpms_el6/lastStab...
on the physical hosts (BTW my hosts are running on CentOS 6.5 with latest yum updates). -------------------------------------
The host throw the following error :- ---------------- Host gfs1.linux.com does not comply with the cluster SV-Cluster emulated machines. The Hosts emulated machines are Non interactive user and the cluster is rhel6.5.0} ---------------
Would you share more details about this from engine.log? vdsm.log, with the output of getCapabilities would be helpful, too.
