CLI Offline Engine Deployment failing to activate storage domain to gluster error 400

Due to some complications in my 4.4 to 4.5 upgrade that have taken down ovirt for a few days I must go back to 4.4 to salvage what I can and rethink how I will upgrade. Due to that im having to rebuild my engine although I took backups prior. My issue currently is with 4.4 the engine deployment has an error regarding mirrors so I was able to use the ansible script to deploy offline and I am at the activate storage domain portion where it fails I am setting it to glusterfs with the host:/path as gluster-1.d.com:/engine The host machine i am building the engine on has a mount: gluster-1.d.com:/engine 104804356 13827696 90976660 14% /rhev/data-center/mnt/glusterSD/gluster-1.d.com:_engine within the mapping : drwxr-xr-x. 2 vdsm kvm 6 Apr 5 22:15 gluster-1.d.com:_data drwxr-xr-x. 4 vdsm kvm 38 May 5 15:00 gluster-1.d.com:_engine I am able to get into the temp engines ssh and ping the domain although I cannot seem to find where my steps are incorrect. Gluster virt volume group has 2 options needed for oVirt:storage.owner-uid=36storage.owner-gid=36Check you have them, as it seems that the virt group (from GlusterFS package) is now missing them. /Maybe a bug ???/ I would simply chown the file(s) to 36:36 from the gluster mount and try again. You can run a find to fix it and give it another try.find /rhev/data-center/mnt/glusterSD/<host>_<VOLUME> -not -uid 36 -not -god 36 -exec chown 36:36 {} \; Or to be even more safe, you can also set all files in the brick to be accessible to the user/group 36. find /gluster_bricks/<VOLUME>/<VOLUME> -not -uid 36 -not -gid 36 -exec setfacl -m g:36:rwx {} \; find /gluster_bricks/<VOLUME>/<VOLUME> -not -uid 36 -not -gid 36 -exec setfacl -m u:36:rwx {} \; Best Regards,Strahil Nikolov On Fri, May 6, 2022 at 0:47, Abe E<aellahib@gmail.com> wrote: Due to some complications in my 4.4 to 4.5 upgrade that have taken down ovirt for a few days I must go back to 4.4 to salvage what I can and rethink how I will upgrade. It actually turned out to be remnants of a bad engine setup, once I cleared it up I got past that. Now I am at the point where I upgraded my engine to 4.5 as my latest working backup was a 4.5 engine. Reason I didnt deploy the engine with the backup was because node is on 4.4 and engine was originally on 4.4 so it was a process to get it up then upgrade and then finally try to restore. Upon restoring I am getting this error, I have already run engine-cleanup prior although it is failing to connect to the database [WARNING] Cannot connect to Engine database using existing credentials: engine@localhost:5432 [WARNING] Cannot connect to DWH database using existing credentials: ovirt_engine_history@localhost:5432 [WARNING] Cannot connect to database for grafana using existing credentials: ovirt_engine_history_grafana@localhost:5432 In turn restores fail too: [root@eng /]# engine-backup --mode=restore --file=ovirt-engine-backup-20220504011012.backup --log=restore5.log Start of engine-backup with mode 'restore' scope: all archive file: ovirt-engine-backup-20220504011012.backup log file: restore5.log Preparing to restore: - Unpacking file 'ovirt-engine-backup-20220504011012.backup' Restoring: - Files Provisioning PostgreSQL users/databases: - user 'engine', database 'engine' FATAL: Existing database 'engine' or user 'engine' found and temporary ones created - Please clean up everything and try again

I was actually able to bypass this issue by deleting the sql dir for data and engine(well tarballing incase it was a bad move) and restoring and then setting up engine. Finally after few days of hard work its up, now my issue is hosts not responding although they are up. This is the error one of the nodes is reporting: Get Host Capabilities failed: PKIX path building failed: sun.security.provider.certpath.SunCertPathBuilderException: unable to find valid certification path to requested target

If anyone has this issue, just comment out the nodes from your engines /etc/hosts file -- Once it catches it is offline or nonresponsive you can put it in maintenance, uncomment it and then you can enroll certificates and/or reinstall without need to reboot after and once done activate.
