Hi John, oVirt does not choose the qemu version. It uses the one available in centos[1] or the other relevant distro repo. Having that said, you need to bare in mind there's a whole stack build on top of qemu (libvirt, vdsm, etc) and jumping forward may destabilize the setup you're using. you should also remember while the version did not change since the last distro rebase for .el6, it contains any feature ovirt/rhev is using via feature backports, so while its "0.12.1", it has way more advanced features in it.
