Import VMs from VMware vCenter to oVirt with different CPU manufacturer

Hi, We have a VMware vCenter platform based on Intel CPUs and we are planing to migrate to oVirt. Is it possible to migrate VMs from Intel Xeon based CPU platform to AMD Epyc based platform? Regards.

Theoretically you should be able to run Intel-based VMs on AMD - but this will complicate the stuff. You need to rebuild your initramfs after booting from the rescue menu (linux), but I'm not sure for windows. Also, you should try with a less important VM first. Are you going to export your VMs as OVA or you will try to directly pull the VMs ? Best Regards,Strahil Nikolov В четвъртък, 14 ноември 2019 г., 12:37:43 ч.
