vGPU: oVirt 4.2.6.1 + GRID K2

Anyone had luck using a GRID K2 for vGPU pass-through? I can't seem to install the driver (367.128-370.28)

If you don't post the entire log with error is quite difficult to help. Luca Il gio 27 set 2018, 13:11 femi adegoke <ovirt@fateknollogee.com> ha scritto:

There is error to log. Per nVidia instructions, I am trying to install a driver for GRID K2. The driver is "NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-367.128-grid.run" I get an error message saying "I need to have the gcc-c++ package" It is very possible that I am not doing this correctly.

Try "yum install gcc-c++" and then try again.

Are you on ovirt-node? If yes you'll need to enable centos repos from /etc/yum.repos.d/

I was not sure if it was ok to enable repos when using oVirt node. The question I still need an answer to is this: "Does GRID K2 work (compatible) in oVirt?"

See this conversation about K2 on oVirt: https://www.facebook.com/groups/ovirt.openvirtualization/permalink/113687492... If I understand correctly, K2 supports only 2 VMs but should work on oVirt.

Thanks, I will take a look. I'm guessing the newer generation of cards (P4/P40/V100) probably have better performance. On Sep 28 2018, at 12:01 am, Sandro Bonazzola <sbonazzo@redhat.com> wrote:

When I try yum install gcc-c++, I get this error message at the end. Is it safe to continue trying to install gcc-c++? After enabling the update repo, here is the new error: ERROR: Unable to find the kernel source tree for the currently running kernel. Please make sure you have installed the kernel source files for your kernel and that they are properly configured; on Red Hat Linux systems, for example, be sure you have the 'kernel-source' or 'kernel-devel' RPM installed. If you know the correct kernel source files are installed, you may specify the kernel source path with the '--kernel-source-path' command line option.

I think you need to install kernel-devel and kernel-headers too

"kernel-headers-3.10.0-862.11.6.el7.x86_64" was already installed as part of gcc-c++

I installed kernel-devel, new error is: ERROR: Unable to load the kernel module 'nvidia.ko'. This happens most frequently when this kernel module was built against the wrong or improperly configured kernel sources, with a version of gcc that differs from the one used to build the target kernel, or if a driver such as rivafb, nvidiafb, or nouveau is present and prevents the NVIDIA kernel module from obtaining ownership of the NVIDIA graphics device(s), or no NVIDIA GPU installed in this system is supported by this NVIDIA Linux graphics driver release. Please see the log entries 'Kernel module load error' and 'Kernel messages' at the end of the file '/var/log/nvidia-installer.log' for more information.
