Ovirt engine General command validation failure.

Hi All, I have a ovirt 4.1.9 self hosted setup with 3 servers. As storage gluster is used in replica 3. I have at a cluster the following error, and this seems to have risen following a routine update (software packages) of the servers. When trying to delete a snapshot of a VM I get at GUI: General command validation failure. Engine logs the attached. Any help is appreciated. Thanx, Alex

Hi, As I don't see any move on the bug 1555116, is there any workaround one could follow to unlock this error? This is hindering to delete the existing snapshots or take any new ones, thus causing the VM to not be backed up. Thanx On Mon, Sep 10, 2018 at 6:48 PM Alex K <rightkicktech@gmail.com> wrote:

More specifically, there is a specific snapshot at one VM that when trying to delete it is generating the error. New snapshots can be created but when cloning the snapshot a new error is generated as below: 2018-10-01 07:56:36,124Z ERROR [org.ovirt.engine.ui.frontend.server.gwt.OvirtRemoteLoggingService] (default task-62) [] Permutation name: 437EF3116E114A3867504693EB4B25FE 2018-10-01 07:56:36,124Z ERROR [org.ovirt.engine.ui.frontend.server.gwt.OvirtRemoteLoggingService] (default task-62) [] Uncaught exception: com.google.gwt.core.client.JavaScriptException: (TypeError) __gwt$exception: <skipped>: qib(...) is null at org.ovirt.engine.ui.uicommonweb.models.storage.DisksAllocationModel$3.$onSuccess(DisksAllocationModel.java:120) at org.ovirt.engine.ui.uicommonweb.models.storage.DisksAllocationModel$3.onSuccess(DisksAllocationModel.java:120) at org.ovirt.engine.ui.frontend.Frontend$2.$onSuccess(Frontend.java:233) [frontend.jar:] at org.ovirt.engine.ui.frontend.Frontend$2.onSuccess(Frontend.java:233) [frontend.jar:] at org.ovirt.engine.ui.frontend.communication.OperationProcessor$2.$onSuccess(OperationProcessor.java:139) [frontend.jar:] at org.ovirt.engine.ui.frontend.communication.OperationProcessor$2.onSuccess(OperationProcessor.java:139) [frontend.jar:] at org.ovirt.engine.ui.frontend.communication.GWTRPCCommunicationProvider$5$1.$onSuccess(GWTRPCCommunicationProvider.java:269) [frontend.jar:] at org.ovirt.engine.ui.frontend.communication.GWTRPCCommunicationProvider$5$1.onSuccess(GWTRPCCommunicationProvider.java:269) [frontend.jar:] at com.google.gwt.user.client.rpc.impl.RequestCallbackAdapter.onResponseReceived(RequestCallbackAdapter.java:198) [gwt-servlet.jar:] at com.google.gwt.http.client.Request.$fireOnResponseReceived(Request.java:237) [gwt-servlet.jar:] at com.google.gwt.http.client.RequestBuilder$1.onReadyStateChange(RequestBuilder.java:409) [gwt-servlet.jar:] at Unknown.xKf/c.onreadystatechange<(Unknown Source) at com.google.gwt.core.client.impl.Impl.apply(Impl.java:296) [gwt-servlet.jar:] at com.google.gwt.core.client.impl.Impl.entry0(Impl.java:335) [gwt-servlet.jar:] at Unknown.Ix/<(Unknown Source) at Unknown.anonymous(Unknown Source) There are no invalid snapshots at this VM.

Please note oVirt 4.1 is not supported anymore and is vulnerable to meltdown and spectre attacks: https://meltdownattack.com/ . Please upgrade your deployment to 4.2 as soon as practical.

Thank you for the feedback. I am aware that 4.1 is not officially supported anymore. Though I am sure quite some people use it still and I was hoping for some assistance. We will go to 4.2 as soon as possible.
