Yeah, "Could not resolve host: mirrorlist.centos.org" suggests that
there's no DNS (and no networking at all) inside your VM.

I'm no expert in vmplayer, but have you defined a VM with networking
there?

What is the output of `ifconfig -a` within your VM?

Does a simple `ping 8.8.8.8` work?
